Amherst Falcons took their 5-0 record on the road to Port Edwards on Dec. 8, as they looked to stay undefeated.
A 21-0 run to begin the game gave Amherst the early lead. Lexi Wierzba scored 13 of the Falcons’ points, capped off by a layup that forced Port Edwards into a timeout.
Amherst would go on another run, scoring 12 unanswered points to make the lead 33-2 with 1:03 left in the first half, before Port Edwards made back-to-back threes.
Wierzba would make a three of her own to bring the score to 36-8 at halftime.
In the second half, Port Edwards outscored the Falcons 23-13, but it was not enough to overcome the first-half deficit, as Amherst won 49-31 to improve to 6-0 on the season.
Wierzba finished with 20 points, and Presley Voss scored 11 and pulled in eight rebounds.
