New London battles Waupaca in the Bay

NEW LONDON - The New London Bulldogs delivered a dominant all-around performance on Sept. 25 at home handily defeating the Waupaca Comets 39-8.

With the victory, New London improved to 3-3 on the season, while Waupaca dropped to 0-6 as they continue searching for their first win of the campaign.

Quarterback Josh Batten orchestrated New London’s aerial assault, completing 11 of 20 passes for 230 yards, four touchdown passes, and one interception.

Chase Disch hauled in five passes for 102 yards and two touchdowns, including a last second 55-yard touchdown catch, while Chase Marquardt added four receptions for 94 yards and two scoring catches of his own.

Jaden Rohde needed just seven carries to rack up 123 rushing yards, highlighted by a staggering 80-yard touchdown run.

Cory Brooker added a two-point conversion to complete the rushing attack.

New London’s secondary were ball hawks picking off three passes.

Trevor Schultz, Mason Gore, and Lucas Ploederl each recorded an interception. On special teams, kicker Logan Grundy went a perfect four-for-four on extra points and drilled a 27-yard field goal, while Schultz added 45 return yards on punts and Disch contributed 66 return yards on kickoffs.

New London will look to carry their momentum forward into the second half of the regular season as they push for a winning record, while Waupaca aims to bounce back in their upcoming matchup to try and get their first win of the season.
