Amherst makes statement on way to playoffs

Amherst dominated Wittenberg-Birnamwood on the road in the final week of the regular season.

The Falcons gained control early in the contest as they recovered a fumble on the opening kickoff and running back capitalized with a 19 yard touchdown run to put Amherst up 7-0.

Amherst scored again on their next possession with a six yard touchdown run by quarterback Michael Glodowski.

On the third possession of the first quarter, Nerdahl scored his second rushing touchdown from nine yards out to put Amherst up 21-0.

The Falcons had their third takeaway of the first quarter and Nerdahl scored his third rushing touchdown to give Amherst a 28-0 lead.

Nerdahl scored his fourth rushing touchdown as he capped off a 34-0 first quarter for the Falcons.

In the second quarter, Wittenberg-Birnamwood scored their first touchdown.
Glodowski delivered a 35-yard touchdown pass under pressureto make the Amherst lead 42-7 after a successful two-point conversion.

Nerdahl scored his fifth rushing touchdown taking a handoff 75-yards for a score to make it a 49-7 lead.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood scored their second touchdown making it a 49-14 game, but Amherst responded with a Glodowski touchdown pass to make it a 56-14 lead.

Two more touchdowns for Wittenberg-Birnamwood made the final score 56-28 as Amherst heads to the playoffs.

Nerdahl finished with 243 yards rushing and five touchdowns, and Michael Glodowski threw for 150 yards and two touchdowns, and had a touchdown on the ground.

Amherst will host Lancaster in their playoff opener on Oct. 24.
