CLINTONVILLE – One month after taking no action on the approval of a resolution and contract to restate and amend the Badger Power Marketing Authority Formation contract, the Clintonville Common Council approved both at its June 9 meeting.
The council originally took no action at its May 12 meeting because Clintonville City Attorney Keith Steckbauer had not received the document in time to review it prior to the meeting. Because of that, Steckbauer could not give the council a recommendation regarding the resolution and contract.
At the June 9 meeting, Steckbauer said he received a waiver stating he could act on behalf of both the city of Clintonville and the city of Shawano, since he is the city attorney for both cities and both cities are part of the contract. Once he had the waiver, he said he reviewed the contract and asked the Badger Power Marketing Authority’s lawyer for some minor changes to be made to it.
“One thing that I did get put in there that I really wanted, that basically, just that any major changes to this needs to be ratified by (the council),” Steckbauer said.
