Posted

CLINTONVILLE – The Clintonville Common Council accepted the resignation of Ald. Thomas Behnken, who represented District 3 in the city of Clintonville, effective July 1.
The resignation was accepted at the council’s June 9 meeting.
At the meeting, Behnken did not go into detail as to why he was resigning, but in an email dated June 2 to Clintonville Mayor Jeannie Schley and other members of the council, Behnken stated, “After careful consideration, I have concluded that increasing personal and professional commitments will prevent me from dedicating the time and attention necessary to serve the residents of District 3 as effectively as they deserve.”
He also stated that it has been a privilege and an honor to serve the residents of District 3.
“I am grateful for the trust the voters placed in me and for the opportunity to work alongside my fellow council members, city staff, and community members in service to our city. I am proud of what we have accomplished together during my tenure and wish the City of Clintonville continued success in the years ahead.”
With the resignation, the city is in the process of accepting application from District 3 residents who want to serve on the council.
