Board approves wage increase of 2.75%

CLINTONVILLE – Employees of the Clintonville School District will receive a wage increase of at least 2.75% for the 2026-27 school year, but some employees could receive a higher increase based on their performance.
The Clintonville Board of Education approved the wage increase at its April 27 meeting. As part of the approval, the total dollar amount of wage increases cannot exceed a 3% increase.
At the meeting, Clintonville Superintendent Troy Kuhn told the board that most area school districts approve a wage increase each year that is equal to the year’s consumer price index (CPI). This year’s CPI is 2.63%.
“If you are a union teacher school, that is supposed to be the number you start bargaining at,” Kuhn said.
Rather than use CPI, Kuhn said he’d like to give district employees a minimum pay increase of 2.75%. The district had budgeted for pay increases to be 3%. He added that he was recommending 2.75% and not 3% because he would like to provide larger pay increases to some employees.
“I think this is a good start, I think our staff is underpaid every year,” board member Laurie Vollrath said.
