CLINTONVILLE – The Clintonville Common Council approved hiring Sommers Construction Company, Inc. for the reconstruction of the Bucholtz Park parking lot, with the cost not to exceed $212,595.
The council approved the hiring at its June 9 meeting, with the funds to come from the city’s capital funds. Sommers Construction submitted the lowest bid for the project. The project is scheduled to be completed this year.
Clintonville Public Works Director Justin Mc Auly told the council that, including engineering for the project, the city had budgeted $250,000 for the parking lot project. The engineering and construction costs came in at a total of $247,770, a little more than $2,000 under budget.
The project includes installing curb and gutter through the parking area, Mc Auly said.
“We’d have two entrance/exits, rather than having the whole thing open,” Mc Auly said. “We’d have a sidewalk that would go through it and greenspace.”
Mc Auly said the curb and gutter would help with waterflow, as currently when it rains, the water sits in the parking lot.
“Right now, we have no gutter on the road at all, and I think that’s what’s causing the failure of the street in that area,” Mc Auly said. “That water has nowhere to go.”
