Building planes, landing them safe

Posted

CLINTONVILLE – On Saturday, Jan. 24, EAA Chapter 1710 of Clintonville received a donated Hi-Max aircraft kit. The generous donor, a long-standing Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) member, specifically wished for the aircraft to be placed with an EAA Chapter, believing strongly in the mission, education, and community impact that EAA chapters provide.
The chapter plans to begin construction of the aircraft once weather conditions improve. The build will be open to participation from chapter members, local community members and youth, providing a hands-on educational opportunity and fostering interest in aviation.

Safe landings
The chapter also hosted its first FAASTeam safety seminar, Landings Revealed, on
Jan. 20 at the Clintonville Municipal Airport. The event drew a full room of aviation enthusiasts and pilots representing a wide range of certifications and experience levels.

Despite winter conditions, three chapter members flew in from Oshkosh and Waupaca to attend. The seminar also welcomed its farthest participant from Turkey, highlighting the broad reach and strong interest in FAASTeam safety education.

Medical flights
EAA Chapter 1710’s next gathering will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 7:00 p.m. at
Clintonville Municipal Airport. The featured presentation, Uphaven: Connecting Families to
Lifesaving Care, will spotlight Uphaven, a Milwaukee-based nonprofit dedicated to helping families stay connected to pediatric medical care and to one another. Through the support of volunteer pilots, Uphaven coordinates free flights for families traveling to and from healthcare facilities in the Milwaukee area. The event is open to the public and all are welcome to attend.
