District hires activities director

Posted

CLINTONVILLE – The Clintonville School District has hired Justin Oshefsky to serve as the district’s activities director/strength and conditioning coordinator, effective July 1.
The Clintonville Board of Education approved the hire when it met May 11. In addition to approving hiring Oshefsky, the board also approved an agreement for the transition of responsibilities prior to the start of the contract. This agreement would allow Oshefsky to work up to 15 days prior to July 1 to take part in training for the duties of the position.
Oshefsky was at the May 11 board meeting and introduced himself to the board. He said he has been the athletic director at Newman Catholic Schools in Wausau for the past year. Prior to that he was a part-time athletic director at St. Marys Catholic Schools. He has also been a teacher in the past.
He said he is “eager and excited for the opportunity” at Clintonville High School.
In addition, Oshefsky said he has a lot of experience being a referee for soccer.

“I’ve gone to state a bunch of times for the WIAA,” Oshefsky said. “Regionally, I’ve been a region referee which is one of the top 100 referees in the Midwest. Now that I’m getting older, I’m kind of stepping away from that as I can’t run as much. So, it’s behind the desk being an activities director.”
Oshefsky said he has experience using a program that helps facilitate scheduling activities and managing contracts. He said he has around 10 years of experience using the program, and has trained others on how to use it.
“Most schools are going to that,” Oshefsky said. “It’s how we register for sports. It’s how we do our contracts.”
The district has been using an interim activities director since Caleb Bembenek resigned the activities director position Feb. 27.
