CLINTONVILLE – With the $1.95 million operational referendum for the Clintonville School District now approved by district residents, Clintonville Superintendent Troy Kuhn told the Clintonville Board of Education at its April 13 meeting that meetings have already been held regarding how the district can best utilize those funds.
Kuhn told the board that the district’s administrative team is aware that the operational referendum funds are not to be treated as a “blank check,” as some have suggested they would be used. He said that at the recent district’s administrative team meeting it was discussed which district programs and staff may need to be cut or added based on various factors.
“We even talked about how we can better utilize staff and maybe put them out of their comfort zone to reduce the number of overloads we offer,” Kuhn said.
He added that the district has a need for school counselors, as well as interventionists for the middle school and high school.
Assembling the district’s budget will be an important factor, Kuhn said.
“We need to meet our goals and be more effective with what we have, and yet meet some of the objectives that we promised during the referendum,” Kuhn said. “I think the key is going to come in June when we propose the budget and as we make some staffing updates.”
