Door-kicking abuser arrested

Posted

WAUPACA — Jacob M. Bray, 32, has been charged in Waupaca County Circuit Court with five counts of felony bail jumping, one count of misdemeanor bail jumping, two counts of domestic abuse-related disorderly conduct, one count of domestic abuse-related misdemeanor battery and one count of criminal damage to property.
It all started when he kicked in an apartment door and assaulted a woman.
According to the criminal complaint, a Waupaca police officer responded to the Main Street apartment on Sunday afternoon on May 17.
The victim told police that she had lived at the apartment with Bray for several weeks and that they share a two-year-old child together. She said Bray kicked the apartment door open and pushed her backward and fled with some clothing.
The victim said two days prior, around midnight on Friday, May 15, she was in bed with the apartment door locked when Bray kicked the door open. When she moved into the hallway, Bray allegedly grabbed her and attempted to force her out of the apartment while yelling at her for locking him out.
She showed the officer her bruises and he also noted the door frame was broken and splintered.
The victim said Bray becomes violent when using methamphetamine or consuming alcohol and he has a history of abuse in their three-year relationship, stating Bray had strangled her three months prior during a drug relapse and had previously struck her hard enough to cause a suspected concussion. She also reported being physically assaulted by Bray during her pregnancy, which led her to seek refuge at a domestic violence shelter in Appleton on two occasions.
At the time of his arrest, Bray was released on bond in six open criminal cases across Waupaca and Winnebago counties.
