Guardians of the Children carry out their mission

Posted

Actions speak louder than words, which the Guardians of the Children – Wolf River Chapter proved while supporting Blue Ribbon Kids Day on April 11. Blue Ribbon Kids Day is held every April during Child Abuse Awareness month, and provides valuable area resources during this free, family-focused event.
Guardians of the Children recognizes and reacts to child abuse, while educating the public to do the same. They serve as advocates and are a source of strength and stability to families in crisis. Guardians are an answer to the prayer of an abused child or teen for courage, support, and protection.
The Guardians are gearing up for a busy summer season. They will be participating in several events, including the Waushara County Resource Fair on Saturday, May 2, at the WWII Memorial Building (440 W. Main St., Wautoma) from 9:30 a.m. to noon.
They are also planning the Semiannual Guardian Run: Ride for Children on Saturday, May 16. All bikes and street-legal vehicles are welcome to join. Registration takes place at Slugger’s Sports Bar & Grill (495 Main St., Wild Rose) starting at 10 a.m., and the ride will take off at 11 a.m. Riders will return to Slugger’s to enjoy dinner and a raffle. All funds raised will support the group.
Other events in the region will include a brat fry in Weyauwega on Saturday, May 9, and the Memorial Day Parade in Fond du Lac on Monday, May 25. Check the Guardians of the Children – Wolf Chapter Facebook page for event updates and all of the current news from the group.
