New London football preview

Posted

The New London Bulldogs had a 2025 season that they would like to rebound from, ending with a record of one win and eight losses and securing their only victory in the Bay Conference by winning their game on the road at Xavier.

On offense, the Bulldogs return five starters and still have one of the best offensive linemen in the conference in Preston Krueger, who was a first-team All-Bay last season.

New London does lose running back and leading rusher Logan Ten Haken, who ran for 370 yards and four touchdowns, caught 22 passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns, and spent time at quarterback for the Bulldogs a season ago.

Ten Haken was also a second-team all-conference selection at defensive back, recording 69 tackles and two interceptions, and was the team’s primary return man and punter.

Reid Oberstadt has graduated after being named a second-team all-conference selection on the offensive line and a first-team pick at defensive end, totaling 72 tackles, 4.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.

The Bulldogs also see the loss of their top receiver, Brett Marquardt, who caught 24 passes for 329 yards and two touchdowns and was awarded honorable mention on both offense and defence, where he made 22 tackles.
New London does return running back Cory Brooker, who rushed for 337 yards and two touchdowns last season.

On defense, New London returns five starters, as Krueger will also be looked to lead on that side of the ball, as he was a second-team all-conference defensive lineman who had 34 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.

The Bulldogs will look to replace the production lost with the graduation of inside linebacker Phoenix Fletcher, who was all-conference in the Bay and led the team with 90 tackles.
