NEW LONDON-In a thriller in New London, the Bulldogs earned a hard-fought win over the Shawano Hawks on Sept. 11. Combining for 83 total points, the two Bay Conference rivals delivered an instant classic.
Quarterback Josh Batten spearheaded New London’s high-powered offensive effort, accounting for six total touchdowns.
Batten completed 8 of 15 passes for 175 yards and three passing touchdowns, connecting with Chase Marquardt on three receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown, Austin Tetzke for a 23-yard touchdown catch, and Braxton Walzer on a screen pass that he took 45 yards to the end zone.
On the ground, Batten carried the workload as well, rushing 32 times for 166 yards and three touchdowns. Evan Feldkamp provided strong support with 15 carries for 88 yards as New London gained 274 yards rushing as a team.
In addition to his six touchdowns, Batten punched in two successful 2-point conversions that proved vital to the 42-41 victory.
New London improved their record to 2-2 and 1-1 in the Bay conference.
