CLINTONVILLE – Ald. Branden Schirpke, who represents District 3 in the city of Clintonville, will be running for reelection for a seat on the Clintonville Common Council in the spring election April 7, as a write-in candidate.
In the Jan. 29 issue of the Clintonville Tribune-Gazette it was reported that Schirpke and Ald. Brandon Braden, who represents District 5, had filed non-candidacy paperwork and were not seeking reelection. That was incorrect. While they did not file non-candidacy paperwork, they did not submit candidacy paperwork to run for reelection by the deadline.
According to Peggy Johnson, clerk for the city of Clintonville, Shirpke filed his Declaration of Candidacy paperwork on Jan. 22. The deadline to file the paperwork to appear on the ballot was Jan. 6. That deadline was extended by 72 hours. Because Schirpke missed the deadline and the extended deadline, he will be a registered write-in for the election. His name will not be on the ballot.
Braden did not return his candidacy paperwork and will not be on the ballot.
