The SPASH Panthers put together a strong all-around performance to defeat the Brookfield Stars 5–2, overcoming an early deficit and controlling the game with sustained pressure and balanced scoring.
Brookfield struck first midway through the opening period when Archer Hillig found the back of the net at 10:53, giving the Stars a 1–0 lead after one. Despite the score, SPASH generated more offense early, outshooting Brookfield 16–14 in the first period.
The second period proved to be the turning point. Brookfield extended its lead early with Hillig’s second goal of the night at 2:57, but the Panthers responded quickly and decisively. Grant Molski got SPASH on the board at 4:18, igniting a three-goal surge in just over six minutes. Logan Ostricki tied the game at 9:28, assisted by Benny Abbott, before Ethon Fischer gave SPASH its first lead at 10:36 with help from Beckett Carroll. The Panthers carried a 3–2 advantage into the final period.
SPASH continued to apply pressure in the third, outshooting the Stars 14–8. Grady Miller extended the lead at 5:51, finishing a play set up by Abbott and Molski. Brookfield struggled to mount a comeback as the Panthers’ defense held firm.
With Brookfield pressing late and the net empty, Beckett Carroll sealed the victory with a short-handed empty-net goal at 15:03, capping the 5–2 win.
Neither team was able to capitalize on the power play, with SPASH going 0-for-5 and Brookfield 0-for-6. The Panthers finished with a commanding 54–31 advantage in shots on goal, reflecting their offensive dominance throughout the game.
The win showcased SPASH’s depth, resilience, and ability to respond under pressure, while Brookfield was led offensively by Hillig’s two-goal effort.
