Stevens Point Police Report

• May 1 – A verbal argument between an uncle and nephew about cleaning turned physical and led to both parties pushing the other.
• May 1 – A 22-year-old woman stated she and her friends had been walking on East Maria Drive when a man shined a flashlight at them and told them that they were yelling, before allegedly stating he “owned the [expletive] block.” The man reportedly told the woman and her friends not to go to Morey’s Bar or he would call the sheriff.
• May 2 – An intoxicated man was given a ride to his hotel. Once in his room, he fell and hit his head. An ambulance was called to check on the man, but he was then left to sleep it off.
• May 2 – A 29-year-old woman showed an officer threatening text messages she received from a 33-year-old man. One message included statements of “hoping the woman dies in a car accident and has a painful death.”
• May 2 – A group of college students removed a “You honk, we drink” sign after receiving a noise complaint.
• May 2 – Students at Stevens Point Area Senior High School got into a shouting match over spilled food and a dog. Threats were made to each other from both sides but no physical altercation took place.
• May 2 – A vehicle accident in the roundabout by Division Street and North Point Drive led to the arrest of a driver for operating while impaired and hit and run.
• May 3 – An officer observed two 19-year-old men attempting to pull a city bus sign out of the ground on Prentice Street. Both men admitted to drinking and had blood alcohol levels of 0.107 and 0.147. Both were issued citations.
• May 3 – Officers were dispatched to Portage Street for a report of a deck fire. The fire had been extinguished by the fire department upon arrival.
• May 4 – Officers talked to a man on Division and Brawley Street about a rattlesnake that had gone into the bushes. Officers learned it was not a rattlesnake, but another snake that resembled a rattlesnake.
• May 4 – A man claimed a motorcyclist swerved at him on Church Street. The motorcycle driver is alleged to have flipped the man off and yelled “[expletive] you.”
• May 5 – A homeless man was cited twice for open intoxication on The Square. He was cited again on May 7.
• May 5 – A woman told officers about a tenant causing her issues, such as texting her often about drugs. The woman alleged the man is accusing the woman and her boyfriend of doing drugs, but the woman stated she never has done drugs. The tenant told the woman he has a dash cam in his vehicle to watch for anything suspicious.
• May 5 – A caller reported seeing a driver fail to stop at stop signs in the Walmart parking lot, failed to stop at stop signs in the road, ran a red light by Chili’s, and then allegedly went 100 miles per hour on the highway.
• May 5 – Officers were dispatched to the La Quinta Inn for a call regarding a male exposing himself.
• May 5 – A red four door sedan, with a driver described as a man with a black ponytail, followed an individual walking along Jefferson Street. The driver allegedly was barking at the individual and looping around the street to continue following her, while shouting “Hey, hey” to attempt to get her attention. The vehicle followed her back to her residence, but left once she made it inside.
• May 6 – A 51-year-old intoxicated man was initially refusing to leave Rookie’s Sports Pub, but eventually left. He returned shortly after and caused a disturbance, leading to his arrest.
• May 6 – A student at Pacelli Middle School reported being recorded in the bathroom by a teacher, and stated the teacher also recorded another student on the playground. The principal stated a full investigation is being conducted. According to the report, initial findings show that security cameras do not show the teacher near the bathroom at the time the student alleged. The teacher admitted to recording the student on the playground, stating the recording was made because the student was causing trouble. The teacher stated they could then show parents and the principal the proof of the student causing trouble.
• May 6 – A property manager found 193.51 grams marijuana, positive test for THC, located in a tenant’s apartment on Indiana Avenue.
• May 6 – Multiple homeless individuals were found to be setting up a camp near Whiting Avenue. They were told to move along.
• May 6 – A caller reported a 31-year-old man at South Point Laundromat was “acting strange and messing with a large knife.” Upon arrival, the man told officers he was just messing with the knife and did not intend to scare or hurt anyone. Officers advised him to not handle such a large knife in public.
• May 7 – A man called 911 eight times, with calls ranging from claims of individuals attempting to steal items from his porch to his admissions of smoking methamphetamine. When an officer went to his residence, he charged the officer and was then taken to jail.
• May 7 – A man was found lying on the sidewalk off Stanley Street. He was highly intoxicated and urinated in his pants. He was given a ride to his home.
• May 7 – A man was upset with Chase Bank staff on Main Street and threatened to rob them. When officers arrived he was had calmed down and was closing his bank accounts.
• May 8 – A 19-year-old man was given a citation for speeding 53 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone.
• May 8 – A female was transported to the hospital after taking LSD.
