Threats shut down worship service

Posted

PORTAGE COUNTY — On Nov. 1, at 2:48 p.m., the Portage County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Veteran’s Crisis Line of possible threats made against a local religious organization. The individual making the threats resides in Portage County.
The religious organization was immediately notified of the possible threats and services for the evening of Nov. 1 were canceled out of an abundance of caution.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office located the suspect, a 49-year-old male who was taken into custody on a Chapter 51.15 (for emergency detention for those who are “mentally ill, drug dependent or developmentally disabled”). The male was then transported to a medical facility for further care.
