The Waupaca Comets traveled to take on Markesan on the opening day of baseball season on March 31.
Waupaca struck first in the top of the first inning, as Carson Jameson was walked with bases loaded to advance runners as Max Dolski scored coming in from third, John Zeamer adavanced to third, and Jay Card moved to second.
Markesan tied the game in the bottom of the third inning, as Jaxson Laper singled on a line drive to bring in a run and make it a 1-1 game.
In the fourth inning, Markesan took the lead 2-1, as a sacrifice fly by Ian Emkow drove in Slark for the score.
Nate Sherman tied the game up in the fifth inning for the Comets with a groundout to bring Zeamer for a score.
The momentum would be short-lived as Markesan drove in two runs as Benton Vandeburg and Jaxson Laper scored to make it a 4-2 deficit for Waupaca.
The Comets attempted to rally in the sixth inning as Dougie Williams singled on a hard ground ball to right field to drive in Max Olson and bring Waupaca within a run.
In the top of the seventh inning, Waupaca made a last-ditch effort to score, but a double play by Markesan made the final score 4-3.
