The Waupaca Comets girls got a home victory to pull to an 8-7 record on Jan. 20 against Freedom with a standout performances by three seniors.
Waupaca shot 37.0% from the field and 30.0% from beyond the arc, finishing with 51 total points. They also controlled the boards with 34 rebounds, including an impressive 22-rebound performance from senior Ava Widdel, who added 12 points and five steals.
Senior Hailey Bechard led all scorers with 13 points, while contributing four assists, four steals, and a block in a complete two-way showing. Taylor Kling added 11 points, and the team capitalized at the free-throw line just enough, converting 11 of 21 attempts.
The Comets finished the game winning by a score of 51-42.
