Wright promoted to Clintonville PD captain

Posted

CLINTONVILLE – With the retirement of Captain Dennis Schroeder from the Clintonville Police Department, Sergeant Matthew Wright has been promoted to captain.
Clintonville Chief of Police Craig Freitag said Wright has been with the Clintonville Police Department for 17 years.
“He comes from a law enforcement family. He’s very well respected in the department,” Freitag said. “I know he’s ready. With any promotion there are challenges but I know he will be able to get through those challenges learning new things. He’s now going to be looking at it from the management side. It’s a little bit different sometimes. He’s excited. The department is excited.”
Wright said that moving to the captain position will be a “good spot” for him.
“I wanted to help out the department and keep moving up in the ranks,” Wright said.

He added that he is looking forward to working with all the officers of the department in this administrative role.
“I’m looking forward to the change,” Wright said.
Regarding his goals while in the captain position, he said he plans to keep doing the best that he can and to keep working to improve the department.
Other moves
With Wright being promoted to captain, Freitag said the department is currently in the process to fill the sergeant position. He said the department will soon interview internal candidates for the position.
Assuming the sergeant position is filled with an internal candidate, the police department will then look to hire a fulltime officer.
“We are getting applications right now for that,” Freitag said.
