Ziegert named Veteran of the Year

Posted

HORTONVILLE — Robert “Bob” Ziegert, Commander of Hortonville American Legion Post 55, was named Veteran of the Year by the Fox Valley Veterans Council during the organization’s December meeting.
The FVVC, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, selects one recipient annually each November.
The award recognizes a veteran’s contributions and service to the community over the previous year. Ziegert, who currently leads the Legion Post 55 Building Committee, said he was unaware he had been selected for the honor.
The Fox Valley Veterans Council comprises more than 35 organizations and associate members. The group provides behind-the-scenes support for veterans and their families facing hardships, including job loss, housing instability, food insecurity, and transportation needs. While centered in Outagamie County, the council serves veterans across the surrounding region.
Ziegert’s current focus remains on Post 55’s efforts to establish a community center in Hortonville.
Community members looking to support these local efforts can donate to the Fox Valley Veterans Council at foxvalleyveterans.org.
Tax-deductible donations specifically for Hortonville American Legion Post 55 can be made through the Wisconsin American Legion Foundation at the state level. For more information on the Post 55 building project, contact legionpost55hortonville@gmail.com.
