Groundbreaking for city hall

Posted

STEVENS POINT — Groundbreaking for the new city hall, located at 1039 Ellis Street, is scheduled for July 10 at 10 a.m.
Stevens Point’s new city hall is being built by Miron Construction following the June approval of their $14.8 million bid. Following the approval of the base bid to Miron Construction, council members then voted on individual alternates. Approved alternates include a generator, solar panels, bird friendly glass, and an irrigation system. Denied alternates include a rooftop patio and a parking garage with accompanying solar panels.
“This project has been decades in the making and will ultimately save the taxpayers of Portage County millions when compared to building a new courthouse” said Mayor Wiza. “It will also make city operations more efficient from a logistical standpoint and a sustainable one. City residents will have a more functional city hall with space to grow for the next 100 years.”
The July 10 event will include brief remarks from architects, contractors, and city staff. In the event of inclement weather, a rain date for the event has been scheduled for July 14 at 10:00 a.m.
Construction is expected to be completed by July 2027.
