STEVENS POINT — Stevens Point Area Public School District custodial and maintenance team member Jeremy Manthey earned first place in the individual Clean Room Challenge at the Wisconsin Association of School Business Officials (WASBO) Custodial & Maintenance Conference held July 15 in Winneconne.
The Clean Room Challenge tests the observational skills and expertise custodial and maintenance professionals use every day in Wisconsin schools. Participants were given two minutes to examine a school room and identify cleaning, maintenance and safety concerns. Potential issues ranged from improperly labeled cleaner bottles to damaged electrical components, with scores based on the number of concerns accurately identified. Manthey earned the highest individual score at the Winneconne conference.
“Jeremy’s recognition is a great example of the expertise our facilities staff bring to their work every day,” Mike Kurtz, Director of Business Services said. “They are constantly paying attention to details most of us may never notice, and those details make an important difference in our schools.”
WASBO hosts Custodial & Maintenance Conferences throughout Wisconsin each summer, offering practical, hands-on professional learning for school custodial and maintenance professionals.
