Home destroyed in fire

BUENA VISTA — A Buena Vista home was destroyed in an Aug. 14 fire. The quick-moving fire destroyed the home and moved into the woods nearby, with multiple crews battling the blaze for almost six hours.
On Aug. 14, the Plover Fire Department responded to Shady Drive in Buena Vista for a structure fire. Upon arriving to the scene, responders found a fully engulfed home with an attached garage with the fire beginning to spread to nearby woods. Everyone was safely out of the home, but explosions could be heard coming from the burning structure.
Due to the severity of the fire, a MABAS Box Alarm was called, which is an alarm that alerts neighboring communities to the need of emergency aid. The alarm was upgraded all the way to the fourth alarm.
Crews from almost 20 different departments worked for six hours to extinguish the fire.
Local responders came from Almond, Amherst, Bancroft, Grand Rapids, Stockton, Stevens Point, Hull, Rudolph, Dewey, Biron, Wisconsin Rapids, Waupaca, Rosholt, Scandinavia, Wild Rose, Vesper, Waushara, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
