Josh Ostrowski announces run for sheriff

PORTAGE COUNTY — Following Sheriff Lukas’ announcement that he is not seeking re-election as Portage County Sheriff, Josh Ostrowski announced his candidacy. In his announcement declaring he isn’t seeking re-election, Lukas shared his support for Ostrowski.
Ostrowski was born and raised in Portage County and is an alumnus of Rosholt High School and the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He now lives in the Township of Dewey with his family.
During his 25 years of employment with the Portage County Sheriff’s Office, Ostrowski has served in the capacities of Patrol Deputy, Drug Investigator, Detective, Patrol Sergeant, Detective Sergeant, Support Services Lieutenant, Undersheriff, and Captain of Operations. Additionally, Ostrowski has completed special assignments including Portage County Traffic Safety Commission Chairman, Portage County Treatment Court, Central WI Drug Task Force, Special Response Team, Firearms Instructor, Taser Instructor, and Rescue Task Force Instructor.
“The next Portage County Sheriff will face both traditional and unique challenges. If elected as the next sheriff, I will continue to aggressively address these challenges with assistance from law enforcement and community partnerships. I look forward to the opportunity of being the next sheriff and working hand in hand with the community to ensure Portage County continues to safely thrive.” Ostrowski said.
