Manawa boys get win on the road in Amherst

The biggest win of the Manawa Wolves season came on Jan.22 as they took down conference rival, the Amherst Falcons on the road.

Amherst took an early 7-0 lead in the opening five minutes, before Manawa went on a 11-0 run to take the lead.

Manawa continued to keep up the pace offensively in the first half, as they went into halftime with a 31-21 lead.

The Wolves continued to be aggressive in the second half, winning with a final score of 64-40.

Manawa’s Brayden Zielke led the scoring attack with a standout performance, finishing with 16 points on an ultra-efficient six-of-seven shooting, while also contributing 11 rebounds to secure a double-double. His presence in the paint set the tone on both ends of the floor.

Reed Schlueter added eight points and dished out three assists, while Jacob Kravetz chipped in seven points and helped facilitate the offense.

Taylan McCormick led Amherst in scoring with 17 points, and Sully Perkins contributed 10 points of his own.
