Manawa takes on Pacelli in season opener

The Manawa Wolves and Pacelli Cardinals faced off on Aug. 20 at Goerke Field in Stevens Point, both teams looking to improve after losing seasons in 2025.
Manawa jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter after recovering a Pacelli fumble on their own 41-yard line, and quarterback Carson Stroud followed up with a five-yard touchdown pass to put the Wolves up 6-0.

Pacelli responded by driving down the field and setting up running back Eric Reincke with a one-yard touchdown plunge across the goal line to tie the game at 6-6.

Bryce Flaker gave Pacelli the 13-6 advantage with a three yard touchdown run as they went into halftime with a lead.

Pacelli extended the lead with a two-yard touchdown by Reincke to make the score, 19-6.

In the fourth quarter, Manawa cut into the Pacelli lead with a 10-yard touchdown pass from Stroud to Reed Schlueter to make the deficit 19-14.

Pacelli regained momentum with a 10-yard touchdown run from quarterback Jake Williams to give the Cardinals a 25-14 lead.

Manawa attempted to drive down the field, but Flaker intercepted a pass to set up Pacelli on their opponents’ 14-yard line.

Pacelli would score their fifth and final touchdown to take a 31-14 lead.

Manawa went down the field in the final minute and scored on a four-yard touchdown pass from Stroud, and Stroud scored on a two-point conversion to make the score 31-22 in the final seconds to make the score more respectable as Pacelli starts the season 1-0 and Manawa begins 2026 0-1.
