New date for holiday parade

Posted

STEVENS POINT — The Stevens Point holiday parade has been rescheduled to Nov. 20. after an original date of Nov. 26. The parade organizers moved the date to Nov. 20 to better accommodate community participation and seasonal planning.
This year’s celebration is themed Miracle on Main Street and will kick off on the corner of Church and Maria Street and proceed through downtown, ultimately ending at the Mathias Mitchell Public Square. The parade marshal will lead the first float and then light the tree downtown.
Up to 75 floats are expected to participate made up of local businesses and community organizations, capped off by the final float that will carry Santa Claus.
“This is more than a parade—it’s a spectacular light show and a true community gathering,” said Kris Carne, Downtown Events Coordinator. “It’s a magical way to bring people together and celebrate the season.”
On the day of the holiday parade, many downtown businesses and restaurants are offering extended hours to allow parade goers the ability to shop or grab a bite to eat before, during, and after the parade.
“It’s the perfect way to support local businesses, enjoy the charm of Stevens Point Downtown, and make lasting holiday memories,” added Karen Margelofsky, Executive Director of the Stevens Point Business Improvement Districts.
The Stevens Point holiday parade will begin at 6 p.m. on Nov. 20.
