Posted

STEVENS POINT— With winter approaching and the homeless population rising across the state, local non-profits are partnering together to centralize their services to help homeless individuals. Partnering Together of Portage County, led by president Gregg Hansel, will begin to offer services on Dec. 1 at The Salvation Army Hope Center located at 1600 Briggs Street.
Services from meal services to financial assistance will be available to not only the homeless, but to financially struggling community members.
Partnering Together of Portage County is a coalition made up of local groups including the Salvation Army, One Big Tent, Catholic Charities, Noble Community Clinics, CAP Services, the Franciscans, the City of Stevens Point, and Stevens Point Community Outreach.
On Dec. 1, Partnering Together of Portage County will begin to offer their centralized services from the Salvation Army, in addition to the Hope Center maintaining their overnight services.
In addition to their work in the Salvation Army building, the coalition hopes to open a year round shelter located on Church Street in the future.
