Stevens Point Police Report

December 5 – A welfare check was conducted on a man living on Soo Marie Avenue. He was found deceased inside the residence, believed to have passed from health-related conditions.
December 5 – A student at Pacelli Catholic High School allegedly sprayed fart spray on another student and then damaged their ear buds.
December 5 – A woman fell victim to an Apple gift card scam. The woman stated she lost $100 after sending gift card numbers to the scammer who told her she won $150,000 that would be sent once they received the gift cards.
December 5 – A woman stated she saw children dragging another child on the sidewalk. She confronted the children and the child being dragged claimed they were okay and had no visible injuries.
December 5 – Officers were dispatched to Arlington Place for a warrant service. A male was arrested and transported to Portage County Jail without incident.
December 5 – School staff at Ben Franklin Junior High School received a tip that a student was in possession of marijuana at school. After speaking to two students, two THC vape devices were discovered in addition to a suspected marijuana joint.
December 6 – An officer observed two males walking down Division Street carrying an advertisement flag from Bantr apartments. They were told to drop it and complied. The flag was returned to its property.
December 7 – A break-in was reported at Forthcoming Dancespace on Clark Street. Upon officer arrival, the front door was observed to have been forcefully kicked open and some items inside had been “rearranged and moved around.”
December 7 – A man was outside shoveling on West River Drive when a dog allegedly ran up and bit him, breaking skin. He did not go to the hospital and did not wish to press charges.
December 8 – A student at Ben Franklin Junior High School was caught with a nicotine vape on school grounds, but turned over the vape device when requested.
December 8 – Officers responded to Days Inn and Suites on Division Street to attempt to take a woman into custody on a warrant. Contact was made with the woman suspect and she was taken into custody and transported to Portage County Jail.
December 8 – A man was upset about his vehicle breaking down. A passerby thought he was physically fighting with his girlfriend. Ultimately, there was no fight between the man and his girlfriend.
December 8 – A man and woman on Minnesota Avenue were arguing because the woman would not post about their relationship on Facebook.
December 9 – An officer at PJ Jacobs Junior High School was informed that a student had threatened to
“stab, punch, and choke out” another student.
December 9 – A bag of prescription medication was found by Mead Park.
December 11 – Officers were dispatched to Point of Discovery School on West Zinda Drive for a 17-year-old female who was drinking. The student admitted to possessing and consuming the alcohol.
December 11 – A woman on Water Street reported that a man stole her phone the night prior.
December 11 – Auto Zone on Church Street reported an employee who had allegedly been stealing vehicle parts for the last three months. Upon officer arrival, the employee confessed to stealing and was arrested for Felony Retail Theft.
December 11 – A student was said to possibly be in possession of a vape at PJ Jacobs Junior High School.
December 11 – An officer checked on a man sleeping under the pavilion at Mead Park. The man stated he was okay and that he had been “just kicked out” of the warming shelter and Salvation Army.
