Stevens Point Police Report

• May 29 – Officers were cleaning up a homeless camp at Mead Park but stopped due to a large amount of snakes.
• May 29 – A homeless man was arrested at Iverson Park on a warrant, including possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
• May 29 – A student at Central Point Learning Center kicked a hole through a school door.
• May 29 – A Washington Elementary School employee informed an officer that a man was talking to a student through the fence at recess. Upon investigating, the man was talking to his granddaughter.
• May 29 – Officers spoke with a man at Point Area Veterinary Clinic after a caller reported the man had struck and kicked his dog. Officers spoke with the man who stated he only hit the dog to keep it from pulling on the leash. The clinic did not have camera footage available that would have showed the alleged incident.
• May 30 – Officers responded to a report of a man threatening to rape a woman. The woman stated her ex-step father asked her if she would want to have intercourse with him, to which she declined.
• May 31 – Officers spoke with a man outside of Icon on Main Street, who stated another man had pulled a gun on him. Officers contacted all involved parties and shortly after the reporting party stated a gun was not actually pulled, but he just wanted the incident documented.
•May 31 – A Crime Stoppers tip stated a dead body was seen on Fourth Avenue. Officers could not locate a body at the provided address or within the area around the address.
• May 31 – Officers spoke with a man who was angry and yelling at a Pizza Hut worker for not cooking his pizza to his standards.
• May 31 – A light was stolen off of the front of a locked bike by McDonald’s on Highway 10.
• May 31 – An 81-year-old man was upset with his care he was receiving at Marshfield Clinic and threatened to kill or harm the nurse caring to him. He eventually calmed down after speaking with officers.
• May 31 – Officers observed a man drinking a beer in his car while it was parked. He had a beer bottle between his legs and three other opened bottles on the passenger seat floorboard. Upon testing for field sobriety, he was determined to be negative for OWI. He was issued a citation and stated he did not realize he could not drink in his car parked in front of his residence.
• May 31 – A 55-year-old man had too much to drink and was unable to walk home. He was tired and sat down in someone’s Dixon Street yard. Officers gave the man a ride home.
• June 1 – While on patrol, an officer located a vehicle at the Kwik Trip on Stanley Street that was bearing a license plate that did not match the make and model. Officers located drug paraphernalia, fentanyl, and cocaine inside the vehicle. Both of the vehicle’s occupants were detained. One occupant was arrested on a warrant while the other occupant resisted and obstructed which resulted in their arrest.
• June 1 – A 76-year-old man believes his phone was stolen at Parker Johns.
June 1 – A report of a “butt naked” man at a First Street residence led officers to speak with a 87-year-old man who was fully clothed. He stated he did “drop his pants briefly” to clean something that had spilled. Officers advised him to keep his clothes on, especially due to being close to a school.
• June 2 – Two students at Point of Discovery School were reportedly drinking on school grounds.
• June 2 – A driver was passed out at the Taco Bell drive thru, but left prior to law enforcement arrival.
• June 3 – The Iowa Department of Corrections High Risk Unit informed Stevens Point officers that they had a suspect who was likely in town. After investigating, Stevens Point officers located the suspect at the Days Inn and Suites on Division Street. The suspect was arrested for his nationwide warrant.
• June 3 – A woman allegedly threw a cup of water on an employee at Hardees on Church Street. A traffic stop was conducted on the suspect, who was then cited for disorderly conduct and operating while suspended.
• June 3 – A caller reported someone threw an ice cream cone at his truck on Park Street.
• June 4 – A vehicle was located parked half on the sidewalk and half in the road with its hazards turned on. The driver was arrested for OWI 2nd offense, failure to install IID, and received a citation for open intoxicants.
• June 4 – A 61-year-old man requested to have coffee grounds and chicken bouillon tested for fentanyl. After officers spoke with the man, he could not provide a reason as to why he wanted the items tested for drugs. The man became upset and left the items at the police station.
